Active components and their functions of Lingzhi
Active components in Lingzhi are very rich. More than hundreds of kinds of components have been separated from lingzhi fruit body. Main active components are as followed:
1.Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharid (GLP). More than 200 hundred of GLP have been separated out from Lingzhi. Most of them are ¦Á-glucan and some of them are¦Â-glucan. Ploysaccharid Chain is made up of three single chains. It is a kind of helical configuration. Its solid configuration is similar to DNA and RNA. Molecular weight is from several hundreds to several hundreds thousands. Most of GLP are dissolved in hot water and not dissolved in high content alcohol except a small quantity of GLP with smaller molecular weight. Most of the GLP exist in the inner cytoderm of lingzhi cell. Most of GLP are heteroglucan. That is to say, there are arabinose, xylose, fucose, rhamnose, galactose, etc. in small quantity besides glucose in GLP.
Functions of GLP those have been improved are as followed: enhancing immunity; enhancing the endurance to oxygen hypoxia; clearing up free radical; controlling cancer cell; anti-radiation; increasing the ability of liver, marrow and blood to make DNA, RNA and protein; prolonging life, etc. Most of the medicinal activity of lingzhi concern with GLP.

2.Ganodenic acid. It is a kind of triterpene. More than 100 kinds of Ganodenic acid have been separated out from different lingzhi. Such as Ganodenic acid A, B, C, D, E, F, G and I, etc. The contents of Ganodenic Acid in different Lingzhi or different growing phases are different. So, the bitterness degree are also different. Normally, the content of Ganodenic acid is higher in the bitterer lingzhi. Mayasaki think that the content of Ganodenic acid will increase following the process of growing up, and it mainly exists in the outer edge of lingzhi pileus. Ganodenic acid has a very strong medicinal activity. It has many functions such as acesodyne, calmness, detoxifcation, poisoning cancer cell, restraining the release of histamine, etc. It is also one of the most important compositions of lingzhi.
3.Adenosine. Adenosine is a kind of active material mainly made up of nucleotide and purin. Adenosine can lower the blood viscidity; restrain the blood platelet massing; increase the supplying oxygen ability of the blood and accelerate blood microcirculation. |
