a. Aconite porridge: This is for rheumatic arthritis of cold-type or cold-damp type. Put 50 g rice and 10 g raw aconite powder together in a pot to which 500 ml of water is added. After boiling, simmer with slow fire for a while. Add 1 tea-spoonful of ginger juice, 3 tea-spoonfuls of honey. Continue simmering until rice is well-done. Take it with empty stomach. If 6 g of Job's-tear is added, the effect will be even better.
b. Steamed mutton with monkshood slices is also used for the same type as "a" above: Cut cooked mutton into cubes of 2.5 cm. Put in a large bowl with rinsed monkshood slices. Add millet wine, cooked pig's fat, shallot segments, ginger slices, and broth. Steam it in water bath for 3 hours. Put some small shallot pieces, monosodium glutamate, and Pepper powder, and serve as a side dish.
c. Papaya and Job's-tear porridge. For damp-pathogen rheumatism. Rinse 10 g papaya and 3 g Job's-tear. Put them in a small pot and pour in cool water. Immerse for a while and then cook with slow fire until Job's-tear is softened. Add a teaspoonful of sugar and cook again for a while. Take it at anytime. This may be administered on a daily basis.
d. Slender acanthopanax root bark liquor. Soak 50 g acanthopanax root bark in water and then boil at low heat. Pour off the decoction at half and one hour intervals (adding more water after the first time). Take 500 g glutinous rice. After rinsing, add water and boil with the above acanthopanax decoction to make sticky rice. When cold, add some distiller's yeast and ferment tO make rice liquor. Serve it as beverage at meal time.
e. Inkfish liquor. Take 2 dried inkfish with bones and put into 250 ml Chinese yellow wine, then boil at a low heat until well done. Drink the wine and eat the inkfish. The amount of wine drunk should vary according to individual tolerance. Drink once or twice daily for several days. For patients with impaired functions of the heart, kidney and liver, it should be administered with care or contraindicated.
