The Resources of Materia Medica of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
Since the area of the plateau is quite vast and the natural Therapy conditions quite complicated, there are also great variations in plant species, especially in the eastern and southwestern part that has some of the richest plant life in China.
According to numerous investigations, the plants of Tibetan materia medica can placed in 191 families, 682 genera and 2,685 species. Among them, the distribution can be listed below:

In addition, there are also animal drugs broken down into 57 families,genera and 159 species, as well as over 80 kinds of mineral drugs.Some Tibetan materia medica traditionally imported from India and Nepal are now also produced and grown in Yunnan, Guangdong, Hainan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Among them are Terminalia Chebula Terminalia Bellirica, Phyllanthus Emblica, Syzygii Cumini, Mongifera India Caesalpinia Crista, Entada Phaseolides, Choerospondias Axillaris, Holarrhena Antigysenterica, Cassia Fistula, Aegle Marmelos, Adhatada Vasica, Butea Monosperma, Embelica Oblongifolia, altogether 40 species.

Expelling wind and removing dampness applied in rheumatic arthritis:Cotoneaster Acutifolia, Adenophora Lilifohodes, Sabine spp., Piptanihus Concolor,Vicia Amoma, Cynanchum Forrestii, Lepidium Apetalum, etc.

Sedation and analgesia: Anisodus Luridus, Przewalskia Tangutica, Hyoscyamus Niger, Anisodus Tangutica.
Lowering blood pressure: Meconopsis Punicea, Meconopsis Integrifolia,Lincarvillea Compacta, Lagotis Brevituba, Cremanthodii Discoideum, Aremaria spp., etc.
