Main symptoms and signs: Dull abdominal pain with intercurrent onset relieved by warmth and pressure, pale complexion, listlessness, poor appetite, cold limbs, loose stools, light red tongue with pale fur, deep and slow pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Warming the middle energizer, tonifying the asthenic organ, relieving spasm and pain.
Modification: For the patients with marked deficiency of qi and blood, 10 g of Huangqi (Radix Astragali seu Hedysari) and 8 g of Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) are added; for the patients with yang deficiency of the kidney, 6 g of Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Praeparata) (to be decocted first) and 3 g Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi) are included; for the patients with vomiting of clear fluid, 3 g of Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli) (to be decocted later) and 6 g of Wuzhuyu (Fructus Evodiae) are added.
