Ease The Woman Dysmenorrhea

Patients of dysmenorrhea may suffer from pain in the lower abdomen and lumbar region before, after or during the menstrual period, with pale complexion, cold sweating of the head and face, cold hands and feet, nausea and vomiting.

It can be divided into 3 types: Patients of dysmenorrhea due to stagnation of Qi and blood may discharge a small amount of dark purple vaginal blood with clots or in drips, and suffer from pain and distension in the lower abdomen before or during the menstrual period, relievable after discharge of blood clots and pain and distension in the chest, flanks and breasts; patients of dysmenorrhea due to accumulation of coldness and blood stasis may discharge a small amount of dark vaginal blood with clots, and suffer from pain and a cold sensation in lower abdomen before or during the menstrual period, radiating to the lumbar region and relievable by hotness; and patients with dysmenorrhea due to deficiency of Qi and blood may discharge pink and thin vaginal blood, and suffer from lingering pain in the lower abdomen during or after the menstrual period with preference for pressure applied to the lower abdomen.

Dysmenorrhea is a common symptom of stenosis of the canal of the uterine cervix, pelvic inflammation and endometriosis in Western medicine.

Recipe 1: Twenty red dates, Huangqi (milkvetch root) 100g, Dangshen (Asiabell root) 50 g, Danggui (Chinese Angelica)30 g and brown sugar 100 g.
Administration: A decoction of Huangqi, Dangshen and Danggui in a volume of 300 ml obtained after being boiled twice, and the paste and juice of the dates obtained after being boiled on a slow fire are mixed together and further boiled to prepare a syrup with sugar fororal intake of 30 ml, 3 times a day.
Indication: This syrup can enrich Qi and blood to treat dysmenorrhea due to deficiency of Qi and blood, but it is contra-indicated in patients with deficiency of Yin and excessiveness of fire pathogens or due to invasion of external excessive heat pathogens.

Recipe 2: Walnut 3,000 g, yellow wine 5,000 ml and brown sugar 1,000 g.
Administration: After being soaked in the yellow wine with the sugar for 24 hours, the walnut is dried in the sun for constant oral intake.
Indication: The prepared walnut can warm and adjust the meridians, expel cold pathogens and promote blood circulation to treat dysmenorrhea due to accumulation of coldness and blood stasis.
