The Abdomen By Cold

Main symptoms and signs: Abdominal pain with frequent onset relieved by warmth, pale complexion, cold limbs, cold sweat occurring on the forehead in severe pain, cyanotic lips and complexion, or vomiting, diarrhea, profuse and clear urine, red tongue with whitish and slippery fur, deep-wiry-tight pulse.

Therapeutic method: Warming the middle energizer to dispel cold.
Prescription and drugs: The prescription used is the modified Yangzang Powder (Zang-Nourishing Powder) composed of 8 g of Muxiang (Radix Aueklandiae), 3 g of Dingxiang (Flos Cawophylli), 6 g of Chenxiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum), 10 g of Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) , 8 g of Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong), 4 g of Weijiang (roasted Ginger) and 6 g of Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi).

Modification: For the patients with abdominal distension, 8 g of Zhike (Fructus Aumntii) and 3 g of Sharen (to be decocted later) (Fructus Amomi) are added; for the patients with nausea and vomiting, 8 g of Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae ) and 3 g of Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) are included; for the patients with diarrhea, 10 g of Weiyizhiren (roasted Semen Coicis) and 10 g of Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis) are added.
