TCM Tells You How To Treat For Hematochezia

The symptom of this condition is blood discharged from the anus before, after or not related to passage of stool. It can be divided into two types: Patients with deficiency and coldness in the spleen and stomach may suffer from passage of purple or black blood from the anus with loose stool, dull pain in the abdomen, mental tiredness and no desire to speak; and patients with accumulation of damp-heat pathogens may suffer from discharge of fresh red blood from the anus before defecation, constipation and bitter taste in the mouth.

Hematochezia often occurs in cases of inflammation, ulcers, cancers and polyps of the intestine in Westem medicine.

Recipe 1: Red date 10 pieces and fresh Hanliancao (eclipta) 50 gm.
Administration: The above herbs are boiled in two bowls of water to prepare a decoction of one bowl for oral administration.
Indication: This recipe can clear heat, eliminate dampness and stop bleeding to treat intestinal bleeding of fresh red blood due to injury to the blood vessels by damp-heat pathogens in the intestines.

Recipe 2: Frost of dried persimmon 6 gm.
Administration: The persimmon frost is taken by mouth with warm water, twice a day.
Indication: It is used to treat hematochezia due to accumulation of damp-heat pathogens.

Recipe 3: Fresh sweet potato 250 gm, rice 100 gm and an adequate amount of sugar.
Administration: The sweet potato is washed clean, and cut into small pieces to make gruel with the rice and sugar for oral intake according to the appetite.
Indication: This gruel is used to treat intestinal bleeding due to deficiency and coldness of the spleen and stomach.
