Therapeutic methods: Promoting digestion, regulating the stomach and checking pain.
Proscription and drugs: The prescription used is the modified Baohe Pill (Lenitive Pill) composed of 10 g of Shanzha (Fructus Crataegi), 10 g of Shenqu (Massa Fermentata Medicinalis), 8 g of Laifuzi (Semen Raphani), 10g of Fuling (Poria), 3 g of Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), 8 g of Lianqiao (Fructus Forsythiae), 8 g of Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) and 4 g of Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae).
Modification: For the patients with severe epigastric distension, 8 g of Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi), 6 g of Zhike (Fructus Aurantii) and 10 g of Yanhusuo (Rhizoma Corydalis) are added; for the patients with yellowish fur and constipation due to food retention transforming into heat, 8 g of Zhishi (Fructus Aurantii) and 3 g of Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) (to be decocted later) are included; for the patients with vomiting, nausea and hiccup due to adversely rising gastric qi, 3 g of Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli), 6 g of Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) and 6 g of Xuanfuhua (Flos Inulae) are added.
