Decoction and dosage. All the above herbs make a dose and six to ten doses are prescribed with one dose daily. Each dose is simmered twice and then the broth of each mixed, half of the mixed broth each time, twice a day.
Excessive heat type. The chief symptoms of the pathologic manifestations of extreme excesses of internal heat are high fever, anxiety, profuse sweating, thirst, flushed face, deep coloured urine, constipation, cough and yellowish and dry coating of the tongue, and full and large pulse.

Suppurative infections of the lungs. Patients with this type of disorder have suppuration, cough and foul-smelling of the sputum. He may or may not have high fever. Yellow coating of the tongue and large full pulse are present.
The general rule for treatment with Chinese herbal decoction is to dissipate heat and to detoxify the lung.
The effective formula is Qie Jing Wei Jing Tang.
