This condition can be divided into Yang jaundice and Yin jaundice: Patients with Yang jaundice due to dominance of heat pathogens over dampness pathogens may manifest a fresh yellow color of the eyes and skin, fever, thirst and passage of yellow urine in short streams; patients of Yang jaundice due to dominance of dampness over heat pathogens may manifest a dim yellow color of eyes and skin, no fever, no thirst, tastelessness in the mouth, poor appetite, abdominal distension or weakness, and heaviness of the head and body.
Patients with Yin jaundice due to blockage of cold and dampness pathogens may manifest a dark yellow color of the eyes and skin, poor appetite, distension of upper abdomen, cold body and limbs and loose stool; and patients of Yin jaundice due to blood stasis may manifest a dull yellow color of the eyes and skin, cyanotic complexion, masses in the subcostal region and black stool.
