Prescription and drugs: The prescription used is the modified Qiju Dihuang Pill (Pill of Six Drugs, Rehmannia with Wolfberry and Chrysanthemum) composed of
10 g of Gouqizi (Fructus Lycii), 10 g of Juhua (Flos Chrysanthemi) (to be decocted later), 10 g of Shengdihuang (Radix Rehmanniae), 10 g of Shanzhuyu (Fructus Corni), 12 g of Shanyao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae), 8 g of Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), 10 g of Mudanpi (Cortex Moutan Radicis) and 8 g of Zhishouwu (Radix Polygoni Multi flori Praeparata) .
Modification: For the patients with severe dizziness and headache complicated by restlessness of the mind and irascibility, 10 g of Zhiguiban (Plastrum Testudinis Praeparata), 6 g of Chuanlianzi (Fructus Meliae Toosendan) and 3 g of Huhuanglian (parched Rhizoma Coptidis) are added; for the patients with oppressed feeling in chest with pain, purplish and dark tongue with ecchymosis, 10 g of Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizea) , 3 g of Honghua (Flos Carthami) and 6 g of Taoren (Semen Persicae) are included.
