Treatment Of Pneumonia Dues To Flaring-up Of Asthenic Fire

Main symptoms and signs Repeated occurrence of oral and lingual ulcer without red around or with slight red, mild pain, listlessness, malar flush, dry mouth with- out thirst, red tongue with a little or no fur, thready and rapid pulse.

Therapeutic methods Nourishing yin to remove fire, leading the ascending asthenic fire back down to the kidney.

Prescription and drugs The prescription used is the modified Liuwei Dihuang Bolus (Bolus of Six Drugs Including Rehmannia) composed of 10 g of Shudihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata ), 10g of Shanzhuyu(Fructus Corni), 10 g of Fuling (Poria), 15 g of Shan yao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae), 6 g of Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), 8 g of Mudanpi (Cortex Moutan Radicis) and
4 g of Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi).

Modification For the patients with night sweat and feverish palms and soles, 10 g of Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae) and 3 g of Huangbai ( Cortex Phellodendri) are added; for the patients with lingering pathogenic heat consuming body fluid, 10 g of Shihu (Herba Dendrobii) and 10 g of Shashen (Radix Glehniae) are included; for the patients with yin deficiency of both the liver and kidney, 10 g of Tusizi ( Semen Cuscutae ), 10 g of Nfizhenzi (Fructus Ligustri Lucidi) and 8 g of Roucongrong (Herba Cistanchis) are added.
