II. Practice of Qi Guidance by Opening and Closing

    Ativity,Health,Nature,Fashion,TCM course,Prevention,Treatment,Travel,health,China ,TCM ,Myopia ,Qigong,
    Posture requirements:
Stand still with the tips of the toes together; then raise the left foot, move it to the left, and put it down so that the feet are parallel and spaced about shoulder's width apart.Gradually raise the hands forwards and upwards until they reach shoulder level (see Fig. 2).

Slightly bends the knees, sinking down to a sitting position and at the same time relax the shoulders, drop the elbows and make the arms semicircular. Keep the wrists on a level with the shoulders with palms facing each other? Note the opposition and union of point Laogong (P 8) in bilateral polycentrism (see Fig. 3).

Relax the hands until some feeling of numbness, distension or hotness appears. Then, slowly bring the hands together as if pressing on a balloon until the distance between the palm centres is shortened to 6 or 7 cm (action of closing). Next, slowly move the hands apart to shoulder's width (action of opening). Then "close" the palms again. Repeat opening and closing in this way for about 5 minutes. A feeling of difficulty in moving the hands or in the actions of opening and closing will appear (see Figs. 4 & 5).
