Materia Medica Treatment Mkhris pa Disease
Color-differentiating mkhris pa: manifestations include rough skin with fever and burning pain; sometimes, the skin becomes blackish green and lusterless.

Treatment of Mkhris Pa Disorders
Like that of rlung disorders, mkhris pa disorders are also varied and need different treatment. Here we can only give a general description, mkhris pa disorders can be categorized into two kinds, namely, heat,rnkhris pa and cold mkhris pa, which can be treated differently by three approaches (diet, daily life alteration and medicines).

Cold mkhris pa disorders
Diet: fresh butter made from the milk of a cow, goat or yak; fresh mutton, dried meat, hot "tsam pa" (highland barley) cake, white skin garlic and other fresh, mild foods.

Daily life: one should not stay in a wet and cold location; avoid cold wind; take frequent walks and avoid sweating.
Materia medica: including oral medicines and topical application. For oral administration, Shi-wei-guo-bing Powder (Semen Punica, Cortex Cinnamomi, Fructus Elettaria, Piper Longi, Fructus Terminalia chebula, Semen Herpetospermi, Sallucidum, bear bile, Semen Holarrhena, stool from Sus scrofu); Ba-ban-lian Powder (seeds of pomegranate, Cortex Cinnamumi, Fructus Elettaria, Piper Longi, stool from Sus scrofu, Semen Herpetospermi, Fructus Terminalia chebula, Flos Rosa emeiensis), and Liu-wei-neng-xiao Powder (Fructus Terminalia chebula, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, sallucidum, Radix Inula, wild ginger, trona) can be given. Patients can compound other recipes with ingredients including Piper L0ngi, Sallucidum, arura, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, Semen Herpetospermi for 0ral administration. The medicines are capable of expelling filthy pathogens through catharsis. After diarrhea, hot "tsam pa" (highland barley) cake, beef, and warm wine should be given to protect the stomach function. Topical methods can also be applied, i. e. moxibustion at back points (8th, 9th, 10th vertebrae).

Medicinal treatment: also divided into oral and topical application. For oraladministration, Liu-wei-mu-gua Powder (Semen Coriandri, wild ginger, Radix Inula, Radix Vladimiria, Semen Chaenomeles), Shi-san-wei-bai-cao-wu Powder (Flos Gentian straminiae, Herba Swertia perperascens, Semen Herpetospermi, Radix Aconiti, Radix Coptidis, Herba Ixeris, Herba Hypecoum, Semen Chrysosplenii, benzoir, Flos Carthami, Semen Holarrhena, plus stool from
Petaurista xantholis) can be given. Decoctions of individual herbs such as Fl0s Gentiana straminiae, Herba Swertia perperascens can be taken when they have cooled. For local application, bloodletting at the "ru tong" point is indicated.
