When rlung disease is suspected, soup made of ox or male goat ankle or knee bones can be given. When the patient feels ameliorated, it is a rlung disorder.
When mkhris pa disease is suspected, there are two trial medicines available. Gentianopis plant can be prepared as powder and made into a decoction; a solution made of Herba Corydalis can be given. When the patient feels ameliorated after taking the medicines, it is a mkhris pa disease.
For a patient suspected of having a badkan disease, a decoction made of Sallucidum, arura and fresh ginger can be given. If the patient then feels mitigated, it is a badkan disease.
A patient suspected of having worm or an acute gastrointestinal disease can take a Wu-wei-she-xiang (Musk with five ingredients) Pill. Mitigation of the condition can be helpful in diagnosis.
A patient suspected of blood disease can take a decoction made of root of peony, senecio, dry ginger and flavescent sophora root. Amelioration of the condition means the patient has a blood disease.
When intoxication is suspected, a Saffron pill with 25 ingredients can be given. Amelioration of the condition confirms the diagnosis.
Tibetan practitioners always apply bloodletting therapy. When the bad blood is not yet separated from normal blood, the patient should take a "Three-fruit decoction" to speed up the separation. Then, bloodletting can be administered. No adverse reaction appears in such cases.
However, such therapeutic diagnosis can't be applied without careful selection. The first dosage for such trial should be small. If the condition doesn't show any positive reaction, no further trial should be made. Moreover, it should not be used in severe case where it might worsen the condition.
