Diagnostic Equipment Of China's Tibetan Medicine
When there are foreign bodies inside after trauma, the pulse becomes weak and feeble on the unilateral side. Only a practitioner with rich experience can check pathological pulses.

There are also individual variations. A normal person, for instance, might have a rapid pulse, while others might have a slower pulse. Hence, other diagnostic clues and information must be combined so as to make a comprehensive analysis for comparison with the normal pulse; then, a correct diagnosis can be reached. Pulse manifestations are also applied in prognosis. For example, in some diseases, a paradoxical pulse shouldn't be found. A robust body must have a strong pulse. If a weak and feeble pulse is found, it means a bad prognosis. Conversely, a protracted phthisis disease always has a weak, slender pulse. Where a floating, full and large pulse is found, it also signifies a bad prognosis.

In addition, when a heart disease patient has a cold pulse, or vice versa, or the pulses are incompletely found at the mtshon-kan-chag positions, or there is severe disease with extra systoles, then these are abnormal pulses with bad prognosis. The pulse of a pregnant woman is also prominent, forceful and slippery. It is claimed that when this pulse appears in the left wrist, the fetus is a boy, while the reverse is true on the right.

Other Diagnostic Techniques
There are also some special diagnostic methods in Tibetan medicine.

Diagnostic Equipment
In ancient Tibetan medicine, diagnostic instruments were used. There is a slender metal rod 15 cm long for diagnosing bone fractures. Another slender rod with curved head is used for exploring foreign bodies in the body tissues. A square rod with a pointed end pierced by a small hole is used to examine whether pus is mature or not. There is also a long square instrument with a nipple-shaped bottle opening through which a thumb can pass at the other end; it has a small hole for observation. When inserted into the rectum, piles can be examined.
