Breast cancer affects every woman differently. It can also affect different groups and populations differently. For example, Jewish women of Ashkenazi descent (from Eastern Europe) have a higher risk than other groups of women for carrying abnormal BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.

In this section we look at research on how breast cancer affects women in different populations, including African-American women, and older women (over 70).

These research reports are part of the breastcancer.org Research News program.  Our experts examine recent breast cancer research for exciting advances, important updates, and changes in how breast cancer is treated and diagnosed. We present these studies in easy-to-understand language, explaining their importance, how they were conducted, and what impact the results might have for you.
