What are the pathogenesis of palpitation?
All of the etiologies, bring about deficiency of Qi, Blood, yin andYang, on obstruction in heart collaterals, impeded circulation of blood; producing phlegm to turn into fire, disturbing the heart re-suiting in palpitation.

What are the types of palpitation of deficiency type? What are their respective points of differentiation, treatments and recipes?

(1) Timidity due to insufficiency of Qi and deficiency of blood of the heart

[Main points of differentiation] Palpitation and susceptible to fright.

[Treatment] Tranquilizing the mind and calming the fright by nourishing the heart.

[Recipe] An Shen Ding Zhi Wan

(2) Insuffciency of blood of the heart

[Main points of differentiation] Palpitation associated with

dizziness, dim complexion and thready pulse.

[Treatment] Enriching the blood to nourish the heart and sup-plementing Qi to ease the mind.

[Recipe] Gui Pi Tang

(3)Hyperactivity of fire due to Yin deficiency

[Main points of differentiation] Palpitation, vexation, insom-nia, feverish sensation in the palms and soles, red tongue with little fur.

[Treatment] Nourishing Yin to remove pathogenic fire and nourishing the heart to calm the mind.

[Recipe] Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan

(4) Insufficiency of the heart- Yang

[Main points of differentiation] Palpitation associated with short breath, chilliness and cold limbs, pale tongue, and deep and feeble pulse.

[Treatment] Warming and recuperating the heart-Yang, and tranquilizing the mind and arresting palpitation.

[Recipe] Gui Zhi Gan Cao Long Gu Mu Li Tang

How do you distinguish palpitation from severe palpitation?

Acupuncture treatment

(1) [Deficiency of qi and blood

[Treatment]

Select points from the Hand-Shaoyin, foot Yangming meridi-ans, the front Mu and back Sku points. The reinforcing method of needling is used.

[Prescription]

Xinshu, Juque, Jianshi, Shenmen, Zusanli and Pishu.

(2) Disturbance by phlegm and fire

[Treatment]

Points selected are mainly from the Hand Taiyin and For Yangming meridians. The reducing method of needling is used.

Prescription]

Chize, Feishu, Neiguan and Fenglong

(3) Obstructed circulation of Qi and blood in the heart

[Treatment]

Activate circulation of Qi and blood and removebloodstasis.

Select points from the band Shaoyin and Jueyin meridians.

The re-iucing method of needling is used

[Prescription]

Neiguan, Ximen, Tongli, Tanzhong, Hegu and Sanyinjiao

Another treatment way: Oral Chinese Medicine in Ginkgo Tablets for Cardiovascular Diseases

This will be more convenient to treat Palpitation and other heart diseases.
