Syndrome differentiation of bladder disease
Bladder disease mainly reflects the disorder of the bladder proper and the pathological changes of its functions in storing and excreting urine. The clinical manifestations are frequent urination, urgency in urination, pain in urination and anuria as well as brownish and turbid urine, hematuria and sandy urine, etc.
Bladder disease is often of sthenic nature due to retention of damp heat in the bladder and inhibited transformarion of qi in the bladder. The asthenic disease of the bladder is usually caused by asthenic cold in the lower energizer and unconsolidafion of the bladder due to asthenia of kidney Fang.
Syndrome of damp heat in the bladder
Syndrome of damp heat in the bladder refers to symptoms of morbid changes in urine due to retention of damp heat in the bladder and inhibited transformation of qi. This syndrome is frequently caused by invasion of exogenous damp heat in the bladder, or by downward migration of damp heat transformed from improper diet into the bladder.
Clinical manifestations: Frequent and urgent urination, lower abdominal distending pain, scorching pain in urination, scanty and brownish urine, or hematuria, or sandy urine, accompanied by fever, lumbago, reddish tongue, yellowish greasy tongue fur and slippery and rapid pulse. Such symptoms are usually seen in acute pyelitis, cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis and urinary calculus, etc.
Analysis of the symptoms: Frequent and urgent urination, lower abdominal distending pain, scorching pain in urethra are caused by retention of damp heat in the bladder and inhibited transformation of qi; scanty and brownish urine is caused by retention of damp heat and scorching of fluid; hematuria is caused by damp heat impairing yin collaterals; sandy urine is caused by lingering damp heat scorching impurity in the urine into stones; fever and lumbago are caused by fumigation of damp heat involving the kidney; reddish tongue, yellowish greasy tongue fur and slippery and rapid pulse are the signs of internal accumulation of damp heat.
