The eleventh lunar month of the year belongs to zi, first in the twelve earthly branches, and in addition corresponds to the Kidney Chan-nel of Foot-Shaoyin in the jingluo system and fu in the sixty-four hexa-grams. What you have to bear in mind in this month is that qi arises 7 p.m. and you'd better face northwest in practice. Try to keep body still so that yang will arise.
(1) Daxue (Great Snow)
The time between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. every day in this month is good for the following exercise. Stand at ease with left leg raised to chest level. Hold left foot with hands and kick it down. Return to the starting position and repeat the whole process. 15 times on each side. Click teeth and swallow saliva before inhaling and exhaling.
This exercise is effective for pain in the leg and foot due to pathogenic wind-dampness, pathogens, hot mouth, dry tongue, dysphoria, cardiac pain, jaundice, spouting bleeding from anus, frequent urination, anorexia and panic.
(2) Dongzhi (the Winter Solstice)
The time between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. every day in this month is also good for the following exercise. Sit with legs straightened. Place fists on knees and push them sideways. Return to the starting position and re-peat the pushing movement 10 times on each side. In the meantime, in-hale and exhale and click teeth before swallowing saliva.
This exercise is effective for pathogenic cold-dampness in the channels running through hands and feet, flaccidity with cold feet, drowsiness, pain in the shoulder, back and ribs and abdomen, fullness in the chest, constipation, swollen neck, cough, cold at the lower back and frostbite.
